Take a Shot in the Rain, One for the Pain.

On our fourth meet up, I travelled to Singapore again to see you. This time, I had a little bit of surprises (the ones you hadn't guessed yet). It was a wonderful weekend for the both of us and I can only wish that it were longer, but we both know that in our current situtations, we have yet to achieve our own personal goals to get to where we want to together.

Before the surprise
I arrived at Changi airport at 8:30 in the morning and took my time wandering around the airport. I knew I had enough time before the surprise. I didn't realise I was in a different terminal than the last time I was there, so I was a little confused when I was walking towards the directions that I was familiar with. I ended up towards the exit of the airport where the buses are which is not something I remembered doing. I went back inside and followed the sign "Train to the City". I purchased my tourist pass and boarded the train to my destination. Just like before, I waited for the train to pass through the tunnel and watch the sun light up the train one window at a time. It was just as fascinating as it was the first time you pointed it out to me.

I alighted at Lavander station along Kallang road where I got stuck for a good half hour. The information I gathered from the internet said the 145 bus would pass by that particular bus stop, but when I checked the map, I didn't see 145. I almost messaged you to ask for help, but I didn't. I couldn't spoil my surprise. I panicked a little and asked a stranger who even missed his bus to help which I appreciate very much. I crossed to the other side where I found the other bus stop; he said the bus 145 should pass by there and it did. I got on it and it took me to my hotel. I checked in, took a shower, watched television until I fell asleep. When I woke up 2 hours later, I felt hungry since I hadn't eaten at all. I washed up, changed, and prepared to leave.

Again, I was slightly lost. I boarded a bus where I expected would stop at Whitley road. Instead, it went inside the bus parking lot. I got into another 186 bus. I forgot which stop I missed, but when I saw Woodlands or somewhere that sounded far. My brain started telling me to go down at the next stop which I did. It was already close to 4 pm. I was one bus stop away from Clementi and I couldn't figure out which stop I was at and where to go from there. I went to the other side because it made sense since I want to go back to where I came from. This is when I realised how smart and, at the same time, stupid I was. haha

The Surprise
I alighted the bus and walked in the campus. Even though I had the map with me, it's still different from when you're actually there. I asked a security and warned me that it would be a long walk before telling me the directions. Wilda said that the exam would end around 4:30 pm. It was already 4:20 and I started walking briskly. I asked a person where the SIT building is and she laughed and said I was standing in it. I thanked her and took the lift to the 3rd floor and walked passed the door with glass windows to find you. Fortunately, you were in the first column of people that is directly in front of the door which made it so easy to find you.

I waited for a couple of minutes before the door opened. Your classmates were coming out of the room, and I thought I heard your voice. I stood against the wall so you wouldn't immediately see me. I saw you step out of the room and I almost hugged you, but I waited to see if you would notice. You didn't. hahaha! I decided to pull you away from your classmates. As I was pulling you, I saw Wilda and waved my hand to say hello. You looked confused, but you still couldn't see who was behind you. Once you turned, I saw the surpise and the look in your eyes. We hugged. It felt so wonderful to hold you and embrace you.

We took the bus going to Teck Whye. I couldn't believe you were right in front of me and I could touch you. I could feel your scruffy beard, your hairy arms, your chest, your hair, and see every beautiful detail of your eyes. While you packed up and collected your things, I waited for you at a hawker centre nearby. It felt nice being in the same place you go to frequently. I get to experience a part of what you do on a regular basis - the only thing is that I wish we could be together daily.

Anyway, you arrived several minutes later with your backpack. We headed to Jurong East to do some grocery shopping for the BBQ party. It was already close to 8pm when we finished, so we took a cab going to West Coast Park and were dropped off (it turned out) at the other side of the park. We walked with the bags and I was getting a little tired. You found a waiting shed where you told me to rest while you looked for the pit area. A couple of minutes later, you came back and we walked to where the pits are. Soon after, your friends came and nothing was prepared. I felt nervous around your friends, but also glad they came. I fetched Marz from McDonald's and while walking back, you were on your way to us. You thought I would get lost. haha

Overall, the BBQ party went pretty well. The food turned out fine and it ended around 3 in the morning. We took a cab back to Balestier. The ride was peaceful and I couldn't help but think of how much I was going to miss you after the weekend.

04 October 2014

It was a rainy morning but that didn't stop us from heading out to eat breakfast. We didn't expect it to be raining that heavily, so we went to Cheers and bought an umbrella and bottled coffee. We looked for a place to eat and luckily, we found a market/hawker stalls nearby. We had noodles in soup. It was a good breakfast.

We went back to the hotel to plan the rest of the day (I had to poop also). We ended up naked and tangled in the sheets. Afterwards, we watched an episode of Breaking Bad but we didn't finish because housekeeping was knocking on our door. That was our cue to step out and leave the room.

It was like it didn't rain earlier. We walked to the mall which was also nearby and bought our movie tickets to The Equalizer. We had plenty of time to waste before the movie started, so we had a cigarette, roamed about and looked at the sports shop that was on sale, and watched the cute little hamsters doing their business. 15 minutes before the movie, we made our way to the cinemas and bought those delicious nachos with cheese and root beer. The Equalizer was pretty cool.

After the movie, we went back to the hotel to return my jacket (you had to poop also) then off to Little India we went. The first thing we did was have dinner at the favourite place you go to for biryani. The mutton biryani was so delicious (I'm craving for it now as I type it). Sigh. I love going out with you and being able to hold your hand or feel you when we walk. It was especially beautiful that night because of the preparations for deepavali.

We walked to Mustafa after dinner and bought some things for my family and officemates. The place is packed as usual. I remember the last time we were there with mum and we were hiding behind the jackets, fooling around a bit. After buying everything I needed, we had a cigarette walking back to the stop and took a bus going to the hotel. We bought drinks before going up.

We watched a few funny videos when we got back to the room and two episodes of Breaking Bad. We got a little hungry or thirsty, so we bought beer and a cheesecake. We watched "Death at a Funeral" which was hilarious. After the movie, we laid in bed for our last night together.

05 October 2014

Morning came. We woke up and wondered what to do before my flight. We decided to check out early and watch Dracula Untold which was on okay movie, but not as good as The Equalizer. On the bus stop, it occurred to me that I forgot my plane itinerary. You suggested that we find a place to print before meeting Marz at Orchard. We went to Lucky Plaza first and after squeezing through the crowd, we found none. We tried our luck at Far East Plaza, but we found cupcakes instead. We decided that I just print at the airport when we get there.

We met Marz around 2 at the Orchard train station then made our way to the Fat Boys where there was a group of teens chatting in front of an obviously finished meal. We waited awhile, but the clock was ticking and we still haven't ordered, so I tried to ask them nicely if they were finished. My voice betrayed me and I felt like I asked them a little bit harshly, but they left.

The burger was SO DELICIOUS. I love the patty. After lunch, we took a cab to the airport. I know it's mean and shallow, but I was a bit sad when we didn't get to sit together in the cab. I wanted to rest my head on your shoulder and run my hands on your arm hair on our way there. Maybe next time.

We arrived at the airport quite early and I was able to print my plane itinerary. We went to Starbucks and hung out there for quite some time. You accidentally bought two French Vanilla fraps and we laughed about it for awhile. Then we all talked and talked. We had a cigarette an hour later then made our way near the gates. I thought we could have another picture in the booth, but it was in a different terminal. We sat there and waited for 7 pm. We joked and laughed and even did a survey for an uncle.

At 6:45, Marz went ahead. We said our goodbyes and strangely enough, we didn't cry. I'm not sure what it is, but this time it was hopeful and quite calm. But honestly, I wanted to cry then and hold you for a long time. We hugged and kissed for the last time before I walked inside. There was a long queue and I kept looking back at you every once in awhile. I didn't want to leave, but we both knew I had to. We are simply not ready to be together and we know that.
